wes-rip.jpgNot much information is available at this time other than Our Friend “Wes Linn”, as I fondly nicknamed him, Has passed on. He was first class asshole, as his final act will attest to, never the less, he was a blast to skate with. Wes will be missed by a handful of close friends at the very least.
More will be revealed as it learned. The photo above is of Wes ripping a FS 50 over the entrance stairs at his home park and name sake.
We here at Rebel Skates hope that you have found the peace you couldn’t find here amongst the rest of us.
Rest in peace my friend.

Washington Skate Team Drops in!

mukilteovisit.jpg
What a pleasant way to start the day. I swung by BURNSIDE this morning to get an early morning session in before work and ran into the MUKILTEO YMCA SKATE TEAM. What a great bunch of guys. Sky Siljeg, TJ Lewis, and the rest of the team which I can’t remember all their names, were ripping the place up. TJ, who happens to ride for REBEL, check him out on this site, was learning TW’s favorite trick, “Thrusters”. As soon as he finds some vert to throw them on he’ll be dialed. Sky was throwing down some nice “Smithereens” and a couple of the other guys had the old “Invert” thang locked. The team is on a road trip that took them to GLENHAVEN earlier in the morning. Where they witnessed some one breaking their wrist. Bummer, whoever you are. Heel quickly. this stop also saw TJ LEWIS give himself a little cosmetic enhancement. The pouting lip is soooo Hollywood! usually done in a Doctors office, TJ opted a little DIY job with the coping. with that long hair of his he looks a little like Meg Ryan. After that they met up with me, as i mentioned, at BURNSIDE. After stopping by REBEL WORLD HEADQUARTERS for a quick bathroom break and a quick photo op, with my Cell/Camera (Not the best image ever captured). They are off to NEWBERG, LINCOLN CITY, SEASIDE, and I would image ASTORIA and hopefully back up here for a little BATTLE GROUND, and PIER PARK action to complete their road trip. REBEL wishes them a safe and dry skate mission. Also a little inside scoop, if everything works out ,REBEL may be picking up a new team member in the near future. We are quite excited.

It’s Lonely @ the Top.

It’s been a while since I checked in with my adoring public, for this I am sorry.
It’s been quite busy in the land of REBEL. West Linn local and friend of the REBELUTION, “Johnson” and I made the long swim down to the coast to be apart of the “Seaside Skatepark” Grand Opening Event. The event was unfortunately dampened by poor weather. The Mayor did do an outstanding job of powering through all the introductions and thank you lists w/o the aid of a PA system. Impressive! I would also like to give a shout out to Tim Eberly for making the drive down there as well. After all, VOX and BACON were the official sponsors of the event along with the builders of the park, Place To Ride. Which I must say did and outstanding job on the park, from what I could tell without being able to ride it.The park’s footprint is Approx. 11,000 SQ. FT. it has nice flowing lines, everything connects together quite well. The bowls depths look to be 8ft, 7.5ft, and 7ft. with my favorite feature being the pool coping. it’s “tedders” coping so it’s going to be there for a long time. I just can’t get over how lucky we are to have all the quality skate spots to choose from. Not to mention all the great skaters those spots are producing. Future kings of the parks. Like this young man in our photo for this story, “D-Von” from Bacon, grew up on the mean, gnarly, trannies of Donald. Now he’s all grown up and touring with the “paper heroes” from the magazines. This can happen to you. BE CAREFUL!

BATTLE in the BURBS II

Here it is everyone, it’s official. The 2nd annual West Linn Park Slalom is ready to ruin the afternoon of a few of the affluent neighbors of the Tanner Creek Skate park. It is a small price to pay for the enjoyment of so many. I would like to thank those that will be negatively effected by the cheers, smiles and extra dollars brought into the community, in advance.
Your anger and outrage is worth every bit of my blood sweat and tears. If we as skateboarders can do anything else to bother you, please let us know. We hope to see this event go off without a hitch, and would also like to give the city of West Linn a verbal pat on the back, for watching ours!!!!

Grand Opening Was Huge Success!!!!!!!!

prodcut-tossweb.jpg
Last Saturday’s Grand opening of the Battle Ground skate park was HUGE! An estimated 2,500 people attended the event. There was a little something for everyone. Food vendors, Booths set up by local businesses such as Columbia Harley Davidson, Skateboard brands, REBEL SKATES, Bacon, Vox, as well as Northwest Snow and Skate. There was an organization on hand giving away helmets to kids that needed them as well!
The highlight of the day was of course the Skate Demo. There was an impressive number of big names there to kill the new park as well as a handful of future legends of the sport.
I’m sure if you dig around a bit at the various websites, you can more than your fair share of cool photos. Rebel would like to thank everyone that attended the event as well as the city of Battle Ground!!!!!

BATTLE GROUND SKATE PARK EVENT, SATURDAY JUNE 2ND

battlegroundkids.jpg

First off, a big thank you to the city of Battle Ground as well as Dreamland and Grindline Skateparks. A gigantic project pays equally huge dividends. As is evident by the results of these fine groups working together.
Although the actual GRAND OPENING EVENT is SATURDAY JUNE 2nd, the park has been open to skaters and “others” since Thursday. And I am here to say the park is fabulous. As weak of an adjective as that is to describe something so huge, it is the one I’m sticking with!
I had the pleasure of riding the park yesterday for about an hour before I had to open the offices here and it is almost flawless.
I’ll write more on the subject later. So I hope to see everyone on June 2nd for the Grand Opening event.
It should prove to be one of the finest. With the crews from VOX, Manik Skateboards,BACON,the Mukilteo Y team and of course the bastard sons of REBEL SKATES.
Musical entertainment will be provided by “the FAKIES” also there will be some free beverages courtesy of KRONIK energy drink. - Smay

Congrats to MR. LEISHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rebel Skates is proud to announce that Lance Leisher is going to EUROPE!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s right folks, Lance won the QUIKSILVER “Pack your Bags” contest this last weekend up in Port Angeles, Washington. My sources tell me it was quite an exciting contest. The entire “SKROTTES” posse was there hungry for the prize of round trip airfare to Europe and the chance to skate in several contests over the pond.
It must of been difficult for lance to have to beat his closest friends, Rion Linderman of Scarecrow, Steven Reeves of Creature, and a few others. Way to go Lance! Be sure and swing by Rebel World Headquarters and pick up travelers checks and Rebel decks for your trip.
I’d also like to give a shout out to Mikee O’Friel who managed to place a very impressive 4th in the Pro Division and 1st in his usual division. with a Rebel yell we cried MORE, MORE, MORE!!!!!!!!!!!

WELCOME ABOARD

This is the first installment of one of our newest features, the “NEWS” page, here at the Rebel Skates Website. Hence forth known as the RSW. If you are longtime viewer of RSW you will also notice the “TEAM” page as well.
If you are a first time viewer, none of this matters to you. It doesn’t matter to anyone else other than me, really. It does, however, provide me with something to type in here to give it the appearance of utmost importance. Thank you for stopping by the site and indulging my attempt at writing quality content.

ROAD TRIP

Smay, Early Release Richland

Saturday, April 14th was the Grand opening of Grindline Skateparks’ latest creation. Sounds Enticing doesn’t it? Even when one adds in the 8 hours of driving, round trip, it would take, it still sounds like a great idea. Irrigon, Oregon is a small town east of Portland about 175
miles. A population of several dozen people, Kidding. A very small town and we’ll leave it at that. It is the latest of the rural cities in Oregon to get top of the line Skate Parks.
This being the first phase of the Park is approx. 15,000 square feet. It has everything a skatepark should have and then some! It has a small Fullpipe/Cradle thingy. A couple of doorways to grind or air over. All types of grindable surfaces here Pool coping, steel coping, bricks, river rock, and of course plain old concrete lipage.
There is also a street/bank section of the park. I didn’t skate over there, as I am not qualified. Having been “flip trick free” until just recently.
We decided to make ourselves a part of this great occasion after hearing that the little community of Irrigon hadn’t talked to any manufacturers about goodies for the kids at the event.
Now to let this happen would be down right UN-American! So, Rebel skates, being the crafty sort they are, nominated themselves captains of entertainment for the Irrigon mission. after Jay Smay managed as many donations as possible and rounding up a few of the team including Lance Leisher, Brogan Robinson,Shawn Reinert, Mark Conahan and the Smay, We headed east. It rained a little but never enough to stop the skating or the fun.
This is a park that needs to be ridden by everyone that likes fast, smooth concrete.
In other words, everyone needs to head east or west or whichever direction it is to Irrigon. The people are the Best! the Park is fantastic! Ride to live, Drive to ride!

Skating and Shit

Rebel Team Shreddin It Up

this is a new section on the REBEL SKATES site. We’ll be posting up all kinds of interesting things. Tales of travel, Tales of woe, Pictures of rippers, Sponsorship news, births, deaths, New private pool session (after they’re blown out) all kinds of stuff.
Some of which may be informative. Some of which will be make you happy. A lot, that more than likely make you pissed. Never the less, information Rebel deems important.
Thank you for being so patient, this has been in the works for quite sometime. There will be more changes soon in the other departments on the site too.
The store will be receiving a make over to make it a little more attractive to the consumer. This is important to the Shop owners, managers and the kid down the street that doesn’t want to buy another china skate.
